As a part the UK Festival (20-25 November 2023), Cut from the same cloth will promote textile recycling, exploring it as a metaphor for the power of reinvention.

Be part of the team which will envision and present this live event in November!

Cut from the same cloth, part of the UK Festival and EXPO supported by the British Council, will take place at the M7 design hub in Msheireb.

We will explore reinvention and recycling over three half-day workshops at M7, then devise, make and participate in the live event open to the public (20-25 Nov).

We’ll collect used clothes from our communities, use them as the basis of an installation for the live event, and interact with the public during the live event. After the event, the clothes will be donated, re-used or recycled as part of an exciting garment-to-garment recycling programme.

You will:

  • Make new friends and allies

  • Learn about cutting edge garment recycling and share this with an audience

  • Be given two tickets to the Soumik Data music concert at EXPO

  • Be invited to attend UK Festival activities during EXPO

  • Be provided with QAR 300 as token reimbursement for travel

Dates:

  • 07 October (Sat) morning 9.00-13.00 - WORKSHOP 1

  • 21 October (Sat) afternoon 13:00-17:00 - WORKSHOP 2

  • 04 November (Sat) evening 17:00-21:00 - WORKSHOP 3
